Youth Sports & Fitness

Healthy Habits Start Here

The Armed Services YMCA Fort Leonard Wood, recognize that physical activity is central to good physical and mental well-being and that involvement in youth sports and fitness initiatives lay the foundation for healthy choices later in life. A childโ€™s involvement in youth fitness activities give them the chance to learn about teamwork, achievement, and friendship–all while having a great time!

Earn-A-Bike

The Earn-a-Bike annual application-based program rewards military children for healthy behaviors. Parents/guardians and their child(ren) work together to complete four weeks’ worth of fitness, nutrition, and healthy activities. At the end of the program, ASYMCA verifies participation and students who achieved all of the goals are awarded a brand-new bicycle! It takes the entire community to provide this program to military students, and we appreciate the generous monetary and in-kind donations from local individuals and businesses.

Safety Around Water (SAW)

Drowning can happen nearly anywhere with standing water. But, as a parent or caregiver, you canโ€™t keep your children sidelined. Equip them with the tools they need to be confident in and around water, so they donโ€™t lose out on the health benefits of exercise, the opportunities to bond with family and friends, and the sense of accomplishment when they learn new skills. Thanks to a generous grant, ASYMCA provides no-cost swimming lessons for military children.

The ASYMCA will no longer be hosting the basketball league. We greatly appreciate the players, coaches, volunteers, school district and sponsors for all of their support!
